smartWhat is S.M.A.R.T ?

Shawnee Mass Transit District is a state and federally funded public transportation system.  Service is available to anyone needing transportation.  S.M.A.R.T. provides door through door and established route service.  The fleet consists of lift-equipped and ramped vehicles, making the system accessible to everyone.

Where will S.M.A.R.T. take me?

S.M.A.R.T. makes available out-of-district and out-of-state trips, as well as, in-district and in-state-trips to major medical facilities, shopping centers, employment and educational facilities.
S.M.A.R.T. does not offer chartering services.

HOW DO I USE S.M.A.R.T. SERVICES?

Call the S.M.A.R.T. office at least 72 hours in advance. State your transportation need, where you need to be picked up, where you need to go and if you will need a return trip. The dispatch staff will schedule your trip for you. We highly recommend calling as far in advance as possible. In some instances, same day transportation may be available but is not guaranteed.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

In town shuttle service is available to the residents of  Anna, Brookport, Jonesboro, Metropolis , Vienna and Goreville on Tuesdays. This service is only one dollar each time you board. Monthly passes are available for each shuttle; the fee for each pass varies with location and saves you money.Passes are available from our drivers or contact the S.M.A.R.T. office at 1-866-577-6278.
~ The cost per trip varies according to miles and the type of service you are requesting.

AGENCY CONTRACTS:

Agency clients are not eligible for discount tickets or transit passes.
Agency contracts are negotiated with S.M.A.R.T.
