Pulaski County
Located in Pulaski County, Mound City National Cemetery, established in 1864, is one of the twelve original National cemeteries. July 17, 1862, President Lincoln was authorized to purchase cemetery grounds, for use as a National Cemetery for soldiers who died in service to the country.
Pulaski County, Illinois, is located between the Shawnee National Forest and the Ohio River. The County seat is located in Mound City, Illinois, at 500 Illinois Avenue.
