Who can ride S.M.A.R.T.?

How do I get started as a passenger?
Simply call 1-866-577-6278 and they will help you
secure a ride.
Can only disabled persons ride?
No, but our buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts and ramps to make them accessible to passengers who need them.
Where will S.M.A.R.T. take me?
S.M.A.R.T. will take you shopping, to the beauty shop, to any non-emergency medical appointment, to work, or just about anywhere you want to go.
How far will S.M.A.R.T. travel for me?
S.M.A.R.T.’s service area is the five southern most counties in Illinois, but we take our clients wherever they want to go outside these areas. Some examples: Carbondale, Herrin, and Marion, IL, Cape Girardeau, MO, Paducah, KY, Evansville, IN, St Louis, MO, Nashville, TN.
What is the cost for this service?
There are few ways to pay for this service. For instance, if you are on Medicaid and need to go the doctor you can ride free with prior approval from First Transit, you can pay by cash, or buy a pass if you are in an area that has an existing route.
S.M.A.R.T. is always looking for better ways to provide service at a low cost to our clients. When you call to set up a ride, ask about our special services; such as Share the Fare, which helps passengers, share the ride and cut down on cost.
